Commissioning an SROI or Social Value Assessment

If you are an organisation wanting to commission an SROI analysis or Social Value Assessment, there are a couple of questions you should consider.

Should you use an accredited practitioner?

An Accredited SROI Practitioner will have attended training in SROI and had an SROI report assured. You can find Accredited Practitioners, and members who advertise related services, in the Member Directory above.

Using an Accredited SROI Practitioner gives you assurance that the person understands and has experience of applying the Principles of Social Value. All current Accredited Practitioners are listed in our Register of Accredited Practitioners.

Should you have your report assured?

Regardless of whether you decide to use an accredited practitioner, you will want to know that the work you have commissioned meets the standards set by the network for SROI analysis. Currently Social Value UK will assure whether SROI analysis complies with the Principles. Social Value UK is currently working to develop an audit of an SROI analysis which would cover Principles and data.

You should make a provision in your budget for the cost of assurance.
