Social Ventures Australia SROI Practitioner Training

OverviewSocial Ventures Australia

As an increasingly recognised approach for valuing social returns internationally, individuals, investors, evaluators and organisations are seeking to build capacity in the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology.

This course does not guarantee SROI accreditation, but is a necessary step towards becoming an accredited SROI practitioner. The next step involves the submission of an SROI analysis and report for review. For more information on the SROI accreditation process, please see Social Value UK.

The course is a practical, step-by-step introduction to the SROI process. Founded on the essentials of SROI theory, it will be focussed on building out an impact map and exploring real life applications and examples. We will also explore SROI methodological issues that will foster the level of understanding of the SROI methodology which is required for accreditation. Current issues in the development of SROI will be discussed, as will emerging best practice, new techniques and use of financial proxies.Although designed with the assurance process in mind, this course is suitable for anyone wanting more than an introduction to SROI and an opportunity to explore the challenges and nuances.

It is recommended that you come to this course with a case study in mind to apply throughout the training.

About the trainers

Simon Faivel is an accredited SROI trainer and practitioner and leads SVA’s work in SROI. Having conducted over 70 SROI projects, Simon brings a wealth of expertise and a depth of knowledge to each course, together with a passion for the subject and an engaging teaching style.

Joining Simon for the Sydney workshops will be accredited SROI practitioner Matt Bevan, Business Partner for Uniting.  In his role at Uniting, Matt is leading the development of a framework for measuring the social value created by Uniting in NSW and ACT.  Matt believes that social impact measurement is achievable for all organisations willing to ‘give it a go’ and his preferred approach is to start simple and strive for incremental improvements over time.
