We recently co-hosted a True and Fair UK Roundtable Event with Social Value International, to which representatives from leading UK business networks as well as legal experts and authorities on financial accounts were invited. The guest list included former Governor of the Bank of England, Mervyn King, British Chambers of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Directors.
Their participation reflects growing cross-sector interest in a legal opinion SVI commissioned on the requirement for UK company directors to approve accounts that are true and fair in relation to sustainability. It discusses the opportunity for companies to include sustainability information in financial accounts.
The Roundtable discussed the implications of the opinion for company directors and heard a presentation about a business which has already disclosed its impacts on climate change in its audited financial statements.
